Sport fishing licenses

No license is required for sport fishing unless a vessel is used to conduct such fishing operations (Article 23 of Law No. 7908 of 1995). Sport fishing licenses are issued to sport fishing associations or interested persons provided that they show evidence that they meet qualification requirements to carry out sport fishing activities. A licensed association or person may be authorized under the same license to use several vessels. Areas of activity are specified in the license (Article 9 of Fisheries Regulations No. 2 of 2007).

Will Trubridge's Master Class PDF Print E-mail
Written by Christopher Morey
Friday, 07 May 2010

tarponShortly after my first visit to Dean's Blue Hole in November of '08 Will Trubridge mentioned his Master Class to me.  He thought I'd enjoy meeting and working with Yogi, Simon Borg-Olivier, and told me he'd put me on the mailing list.

I would never have dared enroll myself in anything that even seemed to imply mastery, but Will's email defined my mission: Get to the Blue Hole again and take the class.

dentonBlueprints of this series has been on the sketch board for quite a lot of time and finally a completely new series of spearguns released by Abellansub. Like their ancestors, new denton series are coming in three sizes as 98, 110 and 120. But similarity with the older models ends in here. Apart from the wooden body, synthetic handle and metal bits nothing is the same with older model.

Ten Days in the Hole: Aeris F10 Review PDF Print E-mail

Aeris

Some people approach things systematically.  They follow rules and go step by step. Thats what I had in mind when I opened the box containing my AERIS F.10 in the Blue Hole Villa – a five minute walk from Dean's Blue Hole, Long island, Bahamas. (FYI – If you've never been to Dean's Blue Hole, don't go. It's MINE!) I wanted to approach the F.10 with 'beginners mind' and on site where I could test it during Will Trubridge's Master Freediving Course.  But there was a problem.

Having got maybe 3 hours sleep on each of the last two nights, and having spent the previous day riding in airplanes and sitting in airports, occupied with thoughts like 'I wonder how many of these people have swine flu.' and 'I wonder if paper germ masks will become a designer fashion accessory.' and 'Could those things possibly be real?!', my mind was in no shape to comprehend the cryptic chart in front of me.

picassoCarbon, fiberglass or thermoplastic? The question of what kind of fin to choose has always been in the forums since beginning. Some said this and some that but if you are looking for the best and only the best for multiple conditions there is no "best". However, with the recent renovation operation in Picasso company things look a little different now.

Speared by a Marlin PDF Print E-mail
Written by Terry Maas
Sunday, 11 January 2009

marlinGAWWD!, I hope they don’t stick me I thought as I descended through the frenetic bait ball. Time and again, I found myself needing to escape the panicked bait swirling around me. Sardines instantly sought safety in the small shadow I cast into the frenzy of marlin, sea lions, and whales all trying to eat the last sardine. Diving straight down to about 20- to 30-feet helped me fl. I hoped by telegraphing my move by deliberately and slowly pushing my Gates housing ahead of me, that the slashing predators would avoid striking me. Earlier, my dive buddies Derik Stavenger, Dr. Peter Small and Joe Tobin agreed that the marlin rarely made an accidental stick because the sea lions all appeared whole. I was happy with that rationale until I reviewed my footage after the trip and saw numerous sea lions with holes and slashes.
