It is very important for us to know when we are visible and when we tent to be invisible.
We tent to be invisible only in aspedos because in every other tactic the movement betrays us.
Camouflage is in my opinion a way to make something look like the surrounding environment so a red suit that looks like gray in -20m it will still look different from a white sand/black shadow /Braun rock ac.
I think that if we want to solve this problem we mast see what nature do, how the aspedo predators dressed. Groupers, golden groupers and other spaces are all black or dark brawn with small or big spots just to divide the body maze.
But which fish are red? I can think 2 kinds fish like dentx that relied their hunting ability in speed and swims in blue background (I can’t swim so fast!!)
and the poison ones ! Lion fish or scorpion fish are red! Some times red is ‘stay away’ so imagine a big red think standing on the bottom and saying ‘stay away’!
All these are in theory and it is way I use black suit!

well in my humble opinion a good camo suit is not only made with the right colour.
if you are in a one-single colour suit you are a real contrast to the objects around you. what ever this is. seagrass, rocks, or just water.
if you now have a very blurred muster you dont have clear lines which fishes might be able to see.
for example this guy:

just one other thought:
if camo would NOT have any effect, why would mother nature (or call it evolution) create animals which use this effect?
like octopussys ^^ fishes, and on dry land Chamaeleon and many others

In order to be precise in our arguments i think that a universal camo does not exist for every environment! For example the reddish and goldish mimetic helps in mediterranean seabed but it also depends in the stage of algael growth during the year! If one goes diving during the summer one may notice that seaweed is much more dense during summer periods than in winter time {probably due to sunlight and plant photosynthesis process in sea weed}.
Just another observation.....OMER ocean mimetic line and ELIOS pelagos mimetics both adhere perfectly to rocky/sandy bottoms and blue water fishing but will not blend much nicely to heavy algael proliferated bottoms!
What I think is that we should choose our camo to the environments in which we dive mostly in.
Just a curiosity.............. has anybody tried SILVER as a mimetic????????

yes I have used a silver suit as camo against the surface glare - if you ever look up when under water the surface is shiny silver!
Hear is a little extract from a article I wrote many years ago -
SteveW (record claimer) would love to see in print the time i shot myself throught the collar of my suit, with a large air compressed gun, "maybe another time mate"! There was one dive though in about 1994, which saw me walking down Perelle slip. To some i guess i may have looked slightly odd, due mainly to a shiny silver oversuit i had made from a St Johns Ambulance survival blanket. Anyhow it seemed my appearance had attracted quite a crowd. A teacher friend of mine was leading a group of special needs kids on a beachcombing jolly. After serious interigation as to why a space man was walking down the beach i had a chance to explain to my teacher friend there was a small reef only metres from the shore, if i was lucky enough to spear a fish i would stand up and show it to the kids.
The conditions were perfect a big spring, hot and sunny. Of course spitting in my mask and de-snotting bought rowdy laughter from my audience. A few metres out i loaded my gun, a few metres more i was at the spot. The reef itself only one and a half metres high and barely covered produced the ideal conditions. The many crabs that live amongst the bladder wrack were having their cover swept back by the incoming tide, exposing them to any lurking Bass. Staying on the surface and keeping on the outside parameter, making best use of my camouflaged oversuit against the silver surface glare. I spotted a silver patch amongst the weed, took aim and fired. Deep down inside a thought i had a fish to show off, i was wrong! I had neatly speared two Bass of about three and a half pound a piece. Standing up i shouted "I've got two"!
Several weeks later i saw teacher friend, strangely he seemed to think i was somewhat lucky. I told him the silver smoker is never lucky.

Apart from that suit, ELIOS has also other type of red camo with black smooth skin and red patches!

Hey Kenny
what effect did it have on the fish.
I'm sure it has a good one on the Corronet fish
